The IT team is absolutely critical to the success of EA. To build world class games, it is vital to ensure that EA technology is not only stable but is on the cutting edge. There are a variety of different roles within IT Support, and each comes with its own set of requirements, expectations, and responsibilities. Roles include Desktop Support Manager; Desktop Support Technician/Technical Support; Infrastructure Support Manager; IT Director; IT Technician Systems Administrator.
Role Overview
The IT Program Manager will collaborate with the Online and functional business partners to ensure IT systems and services are aligned to the needs of the business. More specifically, the IT Project Manager will provide overall technological leadership and will lead the definition, selection and deployment of EA's next generation systems with specific focus on infrastructure for supporting online business.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Project Planning
- Work closely with the business and IT PMO to provide initial scope and cost estimates
- Validate and/or create project budget
- Set and manage user/customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle
- Develop and maintain Project Plans and track progress to plan
Solution Delivery
- Lead all phases of the project development lifecycle
- Design and document improved business processes and supporting systems to advance business goals and objectives:
- Manage the development of functional and technical specifications for system enhancements
- Coordinate across departments and work with business units to gather requirements
- Analyze requirements to define system solutions
- Ensure feasible and cost effective solutions are implemented
- Manage cross functional project teams; assign and prioritize tasks; ensure deadlines are met
- Drive resolution of design issues to facilitate development and assure effective project delivery
- Manage expectations, challenge requirements and help establish priorities
- Manage the technical development activities and development teams
- Coordinate test plan creation and testing effort
- Identifying training requirements and manage training
- Manage the knowledge transfer from project team to support teams and ensure solutions are stable and supportable
- Conduct project post-mortem reviews
Project Administration/Special projects
- Accountable for tracking and reporting of project costs
- Responsible for regular project status reporting to project teams, CIO staff and PMO
- Participate in service line resource planning
- Implement special internal/departmental projects as needed
What skills does EA look for?
- BS in computer science or business administration or comparable job experience in related IT positions
- Minimum 10 years relevant project management and infrastructure experience
- Background should also include experience in online/internet related technologies and infrastructure experience (exposure to any of the following: eCommerce, Networking, Security, Systems Administration, Database Administration, Storage, Data Center related technologies).
- Ability to translate business issues into system solutions, with a demonstrated proficiency in evolving and managing systems development
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills: detail oriented
- Strong negotiation and people management skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to self direct and manage large teams
