Application Server Software Engineer
Job Description
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
This hands-on position participates in a team involved in the development of upcoming major projects. The developer will design and implement server and client-based technologies. The candidate is expected to have a sound understanding of the software development life cycle and possess good insight into design patterns and designing applications using an OOPS. This person will be involved in reviewing functional specifications, creating design documents and technical specifications, and also performing extensive software development. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills. The position interacts with other Engineering development teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review and understand web application functional specifications.
• Contribute to application server design specifications.
• Implement and design both frameworks and applications in an JEE environment.
• Work with off shore development teams implementing application server applications.
• Work with Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to validate the correct implementation of systems and applications.
• Interact with other engineering teams and other stakeholders as appropriate.
• Identify and recommend best practices for highly-available and geographically redundant WebLogic/OCCAS configurations.
• Recommend WebLogic/OCCAS configuration for optimal performance by recommending and executing performance tests.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Required:
• At least 4 years experience as a software engineer.
• Experience working with offshore development teams.
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and SQA/SCM (Software Configuration Management) tools.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to design specifications and other technical specifications.
• Demonstrated experience with OOA/D/P, UML, design patterns, frameworks, and tools.
• Java/J2EE programming on Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills (including verbal and writing).
• Demonstrated ability to work with other developers and teams to resolve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and require minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing middle tier applications using SOA and deployed on WebLogic/OCCAS.
• At least 1 year configuring and administering WebLogic/OCCAS platforms.
• Experience in identifying best practices for highly available WebLogic/OCCAS configurations as well as geographically redundant configurations.
• Fluency in XML.
Desired:
• A good understanding of secure software development practices.
• Knowledge of Linux administration, configuration, and security.
• Experience in security, including security of networks, servers, and VoIP systems.
• Experience with the MySQL database, database access controls, and secure data replication over SSL.
• Recent experience in VoIP telephony.
• Experience in IP and networking protocols and architectures.
• Experience with LAMP technologies.
• Linux scripting skills (SH, BASH, KSH, PERL).
REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Elmsmectrical Engineering is required.
• Masters Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred..
Candidate need to have EAD/Green card/ US citizenship to work either on 1099 basis or on our W2 only,
Candidates who are currently in H1B if willing to get transfer their H1B to our company, then we can consider H1B's also.
Location : New York (Candidate has to be in US currently)
